The Mallorca-based independent production and research studio launches its public program with a new project developed between Tel Aviv and Mallorca

Gridchin Studio announces the launch of its public program with Sun. Dots. Comets., a new collaboration with Tel Aviv–based artist Julia Stotskaya.
The project is Release No. 01, marking the beginning of Gridchin Studio’s public activity as an independent production and research studio working with artists to develop editions and material projects.
Sun. Dots. Comets. brings together three new images by Stotskaya in which the human body and the celestial world become interchangeable forms.

The project does not attempt to illustrate a specific astronomical event. Instead, it explores the sky through the body, gesture and perception.
Stotskaya approaches the image as a space of play, combining decorative language, text, signs and visual references. In Sun. Dots. Comets., stars, planets, comets, eyes, hands and solar forms are brought together in a visual system that moves freely between the intimate and the cosmic.
For Gridchin Studio, the collaboration continues beyond the creation of the original images.
The three principal works are being developed as large-format cyanotypes on paper, approximately 70 × 100 cm. The project will subsequently extend into textile editions in cotton, linen and silk, together with a more accessible printed edition on cotton.
Cyanotype plays a particular role in the project. Rather than using the process simply as a historical aesthetic reference, Gridchin Studio approaches it as a material method in which light, time, surface and exposure directly participate in the formation of the work.
The transition from digital image to physical object therefore becomes part of the artistic process itself.

The project is conceived as a collaboration rather than a conventional artist commission. Stotskaya provides the artistic language and original images; Gridchin Studio develops the material and production framework through which the work enters the field of editions and physical objects.
Julia Stotskaya
Julia Stotskaya is an artist based in Tel Aviv whose practice is concerned with the image as a field of play. Decorative elements, text, irony, objects and cultural references become equal components of her visual language.
Her work explores the unstable boundary between the serious and the humorous, the beautiful and the strange, the deliberate and the accidental.
In Sun. Dots. Comets., this language takes the form of a playful cosmology in which the body becomes a landscape of celestial signs.
Gridchin Studio
Gridchin Studio is an independent production and research studio based in Mallorca, Spain.
The studio collaborates with artists to develop and produce editions and material projects across paper, textiles and other physical media.
Each release is conceived as an artistic event, with production, material research, documentation, presentation and archival record forming part of the project.
Sun. Dots. Comets. is the first public release of Gridchin Studio.
